Well I'm going to explain what happened to me on installed their conversion kit and I'll let you decide if you want to purchase their kit.
I wanted to save some money so I figured I'd buy a basic kit and locate the rotors and calipers on my own. I chose the Heidt's kit and ordered the DF-101-C bracket kit that allows you to adapt 11" Chevy rotor and calipers to the Mustang II front suspension. The kit included:
a) Brake Caliper Adapter Brackets Left & Right
b) Mounting Bolts
c) Caliper Adapter Spacers
d) Spindle Nuts with Washers Attached
e) Inner Bearing Spacer Washers
f) Grease Seals
g) Inner & Outer Mustang II Bearing Races
The kit is designed to use 1973-'76 Chevelle Rotors, '78-'88 GM Calipers and '74-'78 Mustang II Bearings and Seals
Nice overall kit but the:
a) seals they supplied me didn't work with the Rotors
b) the calipers years they say will work ARE NOT CORRECT.
I went to the wrecking yard and obtain the rotors and calipers and then had the rotors turned and bought rebuild kits for the calipers. I thought that I'd be safe a pick the 1980 Camaro for Calipers "Didn't Help".
I finished the rebuilt and went to install them on their brackets and they were too big? I called them up and said "Hey these seals don't fit?......"They should". I then asked "hey these Calipers don't fit"....."They should"
I said wait one minute and got out the tape measure and measured the spacing on the bracket for attaching the calipers (5 1/2") and the spacing on the Camaro calipers (7"). "Oh those calipers won't work.....Duh!
Is it my fault for not measure this distance before hand or theirs for not writing the correct years down for the parts required?
Needless to say if my Heidt's Mustang II suspension wasn't already welded in "I would have packed it all up and sent everything back". Now I'm wondering what kind of products they sell.
Theirs another reason to stick with ECI for Quality Parts and Service.
Again, great site!
